KNEC directs parents to verify student registration details ahead of deadline

By |

The Council affirmed that there will be no extensions granted beyond the deadline, and late registration requests will not be accommodated under any circumstances.

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has urged parents with children sitting this year's national exams to confirm whether their children have been registered and if their data has been accurately captured.

KNEC noted that the registration portal for this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) is set to close on March 29, 2024, just one week from today.

"Please visit your child's school and ensure he or she is registered and the details captured accurately. Do not let your child miss the exam," reads the notice.

The Council affirmed that there will be no extensions granted beyond the deadline, and late registration requests will not be accommodated under any circumstances.

"There will be no extension of the deadline, and requests for late registration will not be honoured," read the notice.

Additionally, there will be no room for a change of photographs for KCSE candidates after the closure of the registration period.

Registration for the exams began on January 29, 2024, and will end on March 29, 2024.

The KPSEA and Kenya Intermediate Education Assessment (KILEA) examinations will begin on October 28 to October 31, 2024.

The KCSE examination, on the other hand, will begin from November 4 to November 22, 2024.

Further, the Council noted that it is the responsibility of the heads of institutions presenting candidates for the KCSE examination to ensure that all candidates are eligible and are in their schools. "Registration of ghost candidates constitutes examination malpractice, which attracts sanctions, including de-registration of the school as a KNEC examination centre," the Council said.

Additionally, school heads should ensure that all candidates adhere to the regulations on subject entry requirements for grading (subject clusters) as stipulated in the Regulations for the KCSE examination issued by KNEC.

All eligible candidates should also upload their correct passport-size photographs (300 x 300 pixels).

The registration data for all the candidates presented should also be accurate and error-free including; correct spellings and order of candidates' names as documented in their KСРЕ examination certificates, gender, year of birth, citizenship, entry Codes, Birth Certificate numbers, subjects registered for and category of special needs and disabilities (where applicable).

The categories catered for should be indicated as; Visual Impairment - VI (totally blind candidates who require Braille), Low Vision - LP (candidates who require Large Print papers), Hearing Impairment - HI (Deaf) and Physical Impairment - PI.
