UNCTAD rebrands as 'UN Trade and Development' on 60th anniversary

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has announced a significant rebranding as "UN Trade and Development," marking its 60th anniversary this year.

According to Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan,  a visible, transformational change was their objective ahead of the anniversary.

"We are celebrating UNCTAD's achievements of the past 60 years as a forward-looking, renewed organisation, building on our legacy but ready to respond to the new complexities of the global economy," she said.

The rebranding includes a new logo and visual identity, which will be rolled out across all official channels in the six UN languages. This marks the first rebranding in UNCTAD's sixty-year history.

To commemorate this milestone, UN Trade and Development will convene a Global Leaders Forum from June 12–14 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

The event will bring together Heads of State and government, civil society organisations, private sector representatives, and leading economists to discuss the organization's integrated approach to trade and development.

Under the theme "Charting a New Development Course in a Changing World," the Forum will focus on the needs of developing countries, with a specific emphasis on UNCTAD's work in Africa, the least developed countries, small island developing states, and landlocked developing countries.

"We will continue to work to ensure development is at the core of global economic decisions and the voice of developing countries is heard," Grynspan emphasised.
