Kenyans to access police abstracts at Huduma Centre's countrywide

By |

The purpose of a police abstract for a lost item is to officially report the loss to the police and obtain an official document as proof of the loss.

Police abstract documents will now be available at the Huduma centres for easy processing for Kenyans seeking to replace their lost Identification Cards (ID).

In a statement on Thursday, Huduma Centre stated that the document will be offered for free.

"You'll also receive a free police abstract at the Huduma Centre. For any inquiries, please contact us at 1919," reads a statement.

The purpose of a police abstract for a lost item is to officially report the loss to the police and obtain an official document as proof of the loss.

This added convenience eliminates the need for citizens to visit police stations separately, therefore saving time and reducing multiple visits to different offices.

However, to replace a lost ID, Kenyans will pay a fee of Sh1000 at the centre.

The Huduma Kenya programme was created to facilitate the provision of a wide array of government services in a single unit dubbed Huduma Centres.

For this reason, Huduma Kenya merges numerous related public services within one location, possibly on the same floor so that Kenyans can easily access them.

Some of the services offered at the centres include the issuance of driver's licences, national identity cards, and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

Other are National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) registration and claims, HELB – Student Loan Application and Repayments, Registration of Welfare Groups, issuance of police abstracts, single business permit, and stamp duty assessment among others.

The first Huduma Center in Nairobi was launched in 2013

In January, Huduma Kenya announced the introduction of a new contact centre number, 1919.

They also introduced judiciary services in six Huduma Centres.

They include Nairobi GPO, City Square, Makadara, Kibra, Eastleigh, and Kiambu.

Huduma Centre currently provides judicial services such as filing new civil cases, filing documents for existing cases, requesting and issuing summons to appear, notice to appear in divorce cases, extracted court orders, decrees, certified and uncertified proceedings, and copies of rulings/judgments.

In addition, mention dates can be requested and issued, as well as general case queries, e-filing help, fine and deposit payments, and virtual court support.
