Sources told The Eastleigh Voice that he had committed three other murders before Tuesday's incident.

Residents of Bula Ali Maow in Wajir County witnessed another murder on Tuesday allegedly committed by a middle-aged mentally ill man, who has been involved in several other murders.

Just one month ago, the man was released from prison after killing a young man in the same area.

According to the Chief of Bula Ali Maow, Mohamed Hassan, he has a history of violent behaviour. "He has committed several murders in the past years and was just released from prison."

Sources told The Eastleigh Voice that he had committed three other murders before Tuesday's incident.

At around 11 am, he attacked his mother with a machete, slashing her several times around the neck.

The Chief reported that he was called by residents immediately but by the time he arrived, the mother was already dead. "By the time I came with police officers, the mother was already dead," he said.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the Wajir General Hospital mortuary.

As news of the incident spread, an angry mob gathered and began beating the man who, according to the Chief, wanted to kill him. The police arrived and rescued him from the mob.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital by the police officers.

The community's reaction has been one of outrage and frustration. Many residents believe that the man should not have been released from prison.

Haji Abdiweli, a resident, blamed the police for the incident. "It is the fault of the police. How do you release someone mad from prison?" he asked.

Another resident, Maimuna, called for the man to be placed in a rehabilitation facility. "Take him through rehab. Substance-induced psychosis is seriously a mental issue," she said.

The case has captured widespread attention, with many calling for stricter measures to prevent similar incidents.

The community is demanding that the suspect be detained permanently to ensure the safety of the residents. The incident has raised concerns about mental health and the justice system's handling of individuals with serious mental conditions.
