Governor Issa awards five students who excelled in KCPE

He pledged that those who scored 300 marks and above but did not receive sponsorship would be supported by the county

Five students who scored 400 marks and above in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam have a reason to smile following Lamu Governor Issa Timamy’s intervention.

Governor Timamy awarded the five with Sh20,000 while the head teachers of the respective schools received Sh10,000 each from the governor as a token of appreciation.

The five are Ephantus Muthul, who scored 412 marks from Safirisi Primary School, Idewa Elvis Odhiambo who got 407 marks from Sikomani Primary School and Juma Stephen Biketi with 403 marks from Good Shepherd Primary School.

Others are Jamal Kibet who scored 402 marks from Stone Town Primary School and Njoroge Minnie Muthoni who got 401 marks from Juhudi Primary School.

Speaking when he met the parents and teachers of the five students at the county headquarters this week in Mokowe, Governor Timamy expressed gratitude to Equity Bank, KCB, Cooperative Bank, and KenGen for sponsoring talented students from less privileged families.

He, however, pledged that those who scored 300 marks and above but did not receive sponsorship from these banks would be sponsored by the county government.

Meanwhile, Timamy emphasized that the county's academic sponsorship for secondary schools would be for those who scored a grade C and above. He urged the citizens to avoid politicizing the matter.
