California Group of Schools celebrates remarkable academic achievements

Established in 2010 with a modest enrollment of 65 students, California Group of Schools now has over 1,300 students.

California Group of Schools in Eastleigh, Nairobi, commemorated their outstanding performance in the 2023 national examinations.

The ceremony was graced by Somali Islamic scholars like Sheikh Mustafa Ismail and Sheikh Abdirizak Jiir, the Chairman of the Anasaaru Sunah Group of Schools and Wajir South MP Mohamed Adow.

California Group of Schools garnered a remarkable mean grade of 8.88 in last year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), with the top students scoring a grade of B+.

Notably, the top performer in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) scored an impressive 415 marks, contributing to the school's mean of 384 marks.

Mohamud Tawane, Chairman of California Group of Schools, attributed this success to the collective effort of the management, teachers, and students.

"Thank you to our dedicated teachers and supportive management for setting us apart from other institutions," he said, emphasizing the pivotal role of education in shaping the future.

He reiterated California's commitment to being a catalyst for positive change through education.

Highlighting the school's distinctive approach, Mohamud underscored the integration of Islamic teachings into their curriculum, fostering exemplary behavior and moral values among the students.

Ahmed Mohamed, Nairobi County's Chief Officer for TVet and ECD, lauded California Group of Schools as one of the top performers among Nairobi's over 30,000 private schools.

The ceremony also saw recognition bestowed upon the top three performers in both KCPE and KCSE.

Wajir South MP Mohamed Adow extended his congratulations to the school for their exceptional achievements.

He noted the heavy investment in education by the Somali community in Kenya, highlighting the ever-growing Somali-owned private schools all over Kenya.

"It's great to see the heavy investment in education and schools by our community," he said.

The MP noted a substantial increase in the number of Somali students pursuing higher education in Kenyan universities.
