NTSA portal to be shut down for three days to allow for migration of services to eCitizen

The TIMS portal will be shut from Friday, December 29, 2023, at midnight until Monday, January 1, 2024, at midnight.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced it will shut down its Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) portal for three days to allow for the migration of all its government services to the E-Citizen Platform.

NTSA said as part of the onboarding process, the TIMS portal will be shut from Friday, December 29, 2023, at midnight until Monday, January 1, 2024, at midnight.

"During this period, all NTSA online service access will be integrated with the eCitizen platform single sign-on, in preparation for the Go-Live on Tuesday, January 2, 2024," NTSA said in a statement on Wednesday.

"From Tuesday, January 2, 2024, only eCitizen login credentials (username and password) shall be used to access NTSA services."

The authority further urged its clients, including motor vehicle owners, financial institutions, insurance companies, motor/motorcycle dealers, corporate/companies, embassies, missions, ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), among other entities, to validate their E-Citizen accounts.

The move is in line with the government's directive for all ministries to move all government services onto the e-Citizen platform by December 31, 2023.

Last week, the revenue collected by the government on the eCitizen portal in a single day for the first time crossed the Sh900 million mark.

Immigration and Citizen Services PS Julius Bitok said that the latest data from the online access and payment platform for government services revealed that Sh903.6 million was collected on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

President William Ruto had directed that all payments for government services be channelled through a consolidated paybill, 222222.

This was intended to inject better management and transparency in revenue collection and to stem leakages from numerous collection points.
