The CS said the compilation, verification and validation of scores are ongoing.

The 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam results are set to be announced in the second week of January.

While announcing this on Thursday, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said the compilation, verification and validation of scores are ongoing.

“We are done with the marking. What we are currently doing is compiling the marks, verification and validation. You know it’s quite a process. So that by the end of the day, we release credible results,” said CS Machogu.

A total of 903,260 students sat for their final secondary school education test in November 2023 in this year's KCSE.

The candidates will benefit from a new grading system which was unveiled in August aimed at increasing the number of students joining universities.

The grading system recommended by the Presidential Working Party, on Education Reforms reduces the number of compulsory subjects and focuses on those they are strong in.

Earlier this week, the CS confirmed the Early Childhood Development, primary and secondary schools will open for the commencement of the First Term studies on January 8, 2024.

However, the Form One students will report to their new institutions on January 15, 2024.

The first term will close on April 5, 2024, and will last for 13 weeks with schools will proceed for half term on February 29 to March 3 for three days.
