The National Youth Service (NYS) has shortlisted five candidates for the Director-General and CEO position.

The interviews are set to take place next week Monday 4 December 2023 at the NYS Headquarters.

The five include Dr Njiri Nelson Mugweru, Anjere Alfred Tom, Nakitari Humphrey Okuku, Mbaruku Moses Njeru and Tembur James Kipsiele.

Tembur has been Director-General in an acting capacity since April this year after he replaced Matilda Sakwa who was appointed as CEO of the Pyrethrum Processing Company by President William Ruto.

Sakwa was first appointed as the acting Director-General of the NYS by former President Uhuru Kenyatta replacing Richard Ndubai in July 2018 before she was later confirmed to the position.

She previously served as the Machakos County Commissioner.

"Members of the public are requested to submit written statements on oath providing evidence contesting the suitability of any of the candidates," NYS Council Chairman Lt Gen (Rtd) Njuki Mwaniki said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The submissions should be delivered through email: nysc.chairperson@gmail. com on or before Monday 4 December 2023 at 5.00 p.m."
