Mudavadi's visit to Kinshasa coincides with heightened tensions between the two capitals and aims to engage his counterpart, Christophe Lutundula.

Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is scheduled to depart for Kinshasa Thursday morning to de-escalate tensions between Nairobi and Kinshasa, announced Foreign PS Korir Sing'oei on Wednesday evening.

Mudavadi's visit to Kinshasa coincides with heightened tensions between the two capitals and aims to engage his counterpart, Christophe Lutundula.

He will also deliver a presidential message of goodwill from President William Ruto, emphasising Kenya's commitment to fostering a mutually beneficial partnership.

This diplomatic mission follows the resumption of Kenya Airways' daily flights to Kinshasa from Nairobi, which were previously postponed due to the arrest and detention of Kenyan airline staff by Congolese Military intelligence.

The staff have since been released.
