Tana River takes over completion of county headquarters

By |

Governor Dhadho Gaddae Godhana expressed satisfaction with the handover process, emphasizing its significance in bolstering infrastructure and administrative capabilities within the county.

After a prolonged seven-year delay, Tana River County has finally taken charge of the completion phase of its county headquarters project.

Acting County Secretary Mwanajuma Hiribae reiterated the county's commitment to completing 80 per cent of the construction currently underway at the County Headquarters in Dayate, Wayu Ward, Galole Constituency.

By prioritizing the project's completion, the county aims not only to deliver a state-of-the-art facility but also to address the pressing issue of inadequate workspaces for county staff.

Governor Dhadho Gaddae Godhana expressed satisfaction with the handover process, emphasizing its significance in bolstering infrastructure and administrative capabilities within the county.

He commended the collective efforts of the stakeholders involved and reaffirmed their dedication to swiftly completing the remaining construction.

He said beyond enhancing working conditions for county staff, the modern facility symbolizes the county's commitment to advancing the welfare of all Tana River residents through progress and development.

"We commend the dedication and collaboration of all stakeholders involved, and we are committed to ensuring the timely completion of the remaining construction works. This state-of-the-art facility will not only provide our county staff with improved working conditions but also symbolize our commitment to progress and development for the benefit of all Tana River residents."

The current administration has been operating from temporary collapsible structures dating back to the county council era, leading to congestion in offices and forcing some employees to work remotely due to limited workspace availability.

For years, the governor had been compelled to conduct his duties from his residence, while other workers toiled in crowded offices.

Located six kilometres away from Hola Town, the construction of the headquarters has faced delays, prompting concerns from stakeholders like Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana.

Mungatana emphasized the urgency of expediting the construction process, citing concerns over the inflation of construction costs, which have risen from Sh495 million to Sh601 million due to the delays.
