In a distressing incident on Thursday, chaos erupted on Waudo Street in California, Eastleigh when a speeding motorcycle hit and injured a four-year-old boy returning from school.

The child, identified only as Sufyan, sustained head injuries after being struck from behind by the motorcycle.

Angered residents immediately confronted the motorcycle rider responsible, leading to a brawl when others intervened in support.

The incident highlights the dangers posed by motorcycles traveling at high speeds, locally known as "boda-bodas."

Halima Hassan, who was among those who rushed to help the injured boy, expressed concern about the recklessness of boda-bodas riders, stating, "These boda-bodas move at very high speeds here; this is a residential area."

Waudo Street has seen an increase in accidents involving school children, prompting residents to call for urgent measures to improve road safety.

The past months transformation of Waudo Street has contributed to its newfound status as a business hub. Once plagued by impassable potholes and mud, the street now boasts a variety of establishments, including shops, hospitals, salons, and hotels.

However, the boom in business has come at a cost, with an influx of fast-moving boda-bodas and public vehicles that put the safety of schoolchildren at risk.

Residents are now demanding immediate action from the County Government, urging them to install more speed bumps to curb the dangerous speeds of motorcycles and other vehicles.
