Ingwe fall to ten-man K'Ogalo in the 95th Mashemeji Derby

Tusker also went back to winning ways after overcoming Ulinzi Stars 1-0 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata, Nairobi

Gor Mahia moved a step closer to a 21st league title following a 1-0 victory over their traditional archrivals, the AFC Leopards, in a match that was played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Nyayo National Stadium will be closed for renovations starting tomorrow to make it ready to host CHAN 2024 matches later in the year.

Austin Odhiambo scored Gor Mahia's winner in the 30th minute after capitalising on a blunder from AFC Leopards goalkeeper Levis Opiyo.

The league leaders suffered a setback in their quest to maintain their advantage as their goalkeeper Kevin Omondi was sent off five minutes later after fouling Victor Omune.

However, having conceded only 12 goals in 27 matches, K'Ogalo used the remainder of the match to prove why they have the meanest defence in the league and kept Ingwe at bay as they marched on to secure a 33rd league victory over their perennial rivals.

Gor Mahia's win sees them maintain their nine-point lead at the top of the table and with their remaining matches being teams ranked ninth or lower, the task of bringing home a 21st league title has certainly become lighter.

Gor Mahia's Joshua Onyango was named the Man of the Match in the derby

On the other hand, the loss left AFC Leopards in 8th place with 38 points.

Ulinzi Stars 0-1 Tusker FC

In the other match played in Nairobi at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Erick Kapaito's 50th-minute goal ensured that Tusker bounced back from two consecutive league losses with a 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars that took them to third with 46 points. The defeat left the Soldiers in 13th place with 30 points.

Murang'a Seal 0-0 Muhoroni Youth

At Sebastian Park in Murang'a, Muhoroni Youth battled hard to hold their hosts Murang'a Seal to a 0-0 draw that saw them earn a point, which ensured they returned to 16th place with 26 points at the expense of Shabana FC, who slid back to 17th place with 25 points.

Murang'a Seal, who were promoted to the FKF Premier League this season together with Shabana, are most definitely certain of featuring in the top flight next season as the extra point earned increased their tally to 35 points even though they remain 12th on the log.

The FKF Premier League will take a two-break as the FKF Cup will take centre stage next weekend with quarterfinal matches being played.
