Sofapaka duo exit club, join Mogadishu City FC

By |

Paul Odhiambo and Jacob Addis have joined the team on two-year contracts each

Sofapaka FC's attacking duo Paul Odhiambo and Jacob Addis Panoam have parted ways with the club ahead of the season's conclusion opting to join Mogadishu City Club in Somalia.

Panoam, originally from South Sudan, was Sofapaka's Player of the Month in April, recognized for his outstanding performance and significant contributions for the club in the Kenyan Premier League. Alongside Odhiambo, he has been pivotal in the team's offensive lineup, making their departure a substantial loss for the club.

Sofapaka FC has been struggling financially, a situation that has likely influenced the decision of Odhiambo and Panoam to leave. The club's financial woes have been an ongoing issue, and the exits of these key players are not entirely unexpected given the circumstances.

A significant factor driving players to leave the Kenyan league for Somalia is the promise of fair and timely remuneration in the Somali National League. This financial stability has made the Somali league an attractive destination for players seeking better compensation.

The Somali National League has seen an influx of players from the Kenyan Premier League in recent times. Notable players such as Omar Swaleh, who plays for Jeenyo SC, Ibrahim Ochieng of Gaadidka, and Erick Odhiambo and Patrick Ochieng, both turning out for Badbaado, have made the move to Somalia. Odhiambo and Panoam will join their fellow Kenyan Premier League alumnus, Godfrey Okeya, at Mogadishu City Club.

Sofapaka FC's management has yet to release an official statement regarding the departure of Odhiambo and Panoam.
